Reviews for Marbling Classes in NYC

Marbling Classes in NYC are rated 4.7 stars based on 137 verified reviews from actual CourseHorse.com purchasers.

  • It was a fun and interesting learning experience
  • The class was very good. The teacher was punctual, knowledgeable, helpful and organized. We had plenty of space to work. Marbling paper can be messy. It would be worth it to sign up again, just to have a convenient space to make more prints.
  • I love my papers which I use to wrap gifts. Jenny is extremely knowledgeable and creative. She handled a large crowd professionally, teaching and encouraging each of us along.
  • The Paper Marbling workshop was fantastic, it's so much fun and the instructor was very knowledgeable and taught us great techniques. You get all the supplies and everything is very well organized.
  • I've had so much fun learning all the marbling techniques. The instructor was well organized and very nice.
  • I xxxxx this For five hours while practicing making marbleized paper…, I felt as if tho I had been transported into a place of beauty… of serenity and peace. It was so amazing.
  • My experience with the paper marbling class blew me away. Some of us students were new to the art and others were repeat customers who had taken the course before and wanted to hone their practice. In my opinion, the class was the correct size and duration for what we were learning, which Sheryl is clearly very passionate about. You will not find a more qualified teacher in the skill and her resume speaks for itself, yet she was also patient, instructive, and handled all our questions and slip ups gracefully. She balanced explaining the chemistry of the process with the artistry of it well; we were sent home with thorough instructions on how to do this at home, exactly what types of materials are needed, and so on. The art space itself was well-equipped to host the class; the only wrinkle was that I wish the signage and directions to the correct floor and room were slightly more detailed and clear, as the building is large. We had access to quality paints, utensils, and even some fresh paper Sheryl made for us herself! All in all, one of the best birthday presents I've ever given myself! I only wish it was a regular class each week or month instead of a one-time 6 hour commitment, as I would be keen to develop more skill with continued guidance.
  • The class was well organized and very informative. The working environment was open and creative with the instructor always on hand to lend a hand if necessary. Everyone was encouraged to be individual in their work. It was a great evening with good company!
  • Such a great night, with expert instruction and super fun vibes. Thank you!!!!
  • Great teacher! Had a great time! P.
  • Enjoy the class. Teacher was enthusiastic to show us the technique and appropriate amount of time was given to make the artwork.
  • No one else showed up to this class so I was lucky enough to have a private session with the teacher. I learned a tremendous amount in 3 hours and left with what felt like an entire body of work. The teacher had great respect for the history and traditional techniques used in suminagashi and demonstrated a variety of techniques. She gave very specific advice on what materials to use at home and where to get them. Thoroughly enjoyed all 3 hours of this class and would take it again.
  • Marbled Cards

The class was relaxing, meditative, and non-intimidating. Kelly, the instructor, walks through the process in a fun and interactive way making it appear 'easy'. She and everyone in the class were kind and supportive of everyone's artistic journey and expression. It was a wonderful way to spend an evening connecting with new people. I thought the time would be too long, and it turns out I could have sat there for much longer!
  • It was great and so nice to have it at the 92nd Street Y—instructor was great!
  • This class was fantastic! The instructor had everything prepared from the day before. We all had fun learning this creative and beautiful process. I am an art teacher and I took this class for professional development. I was surprised to learn about how much labor goes into the setup. Thank you for sharing your love of paper marbleizing. I will definitely be back!!
  • Large Format Marbling (Weekend Intensive)

Natalie Stopka is an excellent teacher and the class was fun and interesting and productive. We accomplished a lot in one day. What a perfect way to spend a Sunday.
  • I love the class which has a lot interaction and fun. Natalie introduced in very detail and demonstrated in a proper way which is good to students.
  • Sheryl is awesome as always. The acrylic marbling class was so fantastic that I had to come back for more. I find suminagashi more playful and it's great to learn new techniques.
  • Large Format Suminagashi

EXTREMELY informative. I've taken over 3 Suminagashi marbling classes, this has to take the cake. I came away with +10 techniques to add to my Suminagashi marbling toolbox. I highly recommend purchasing the extra yards of fabric. So much freedom in this class and time to explore using the techniques and create great pieces.
  • Large Format Suminagashi

    Natalie is a great teacher.
  • This was a delightful class. A brief history of the art, an introduction to techniques and a chance to make your own.
  • Loved this class. Mustapha is a wonderful teacher. So much fun and learned a lot. The small class size gave everyone a chance to make two pieces. Was just as interesting to marble the paper as it was to watch others. I look forward to taking more classes with him in the future.
  • The instructor was very knowledgeable, thoughtful, patient and kind — we had plenty of time to try out different techniques. Super fun class!
  • Mustafa was an excellent instructor. He was patient and modeled several different designs for us. By the time my friend and I got up to try it on our own I felt very confident in my abilities. I am very happy with the Ebru art I created during the class and hope to do more on my own.
  • This class is a deep dive into marbling. The instructor is extremely knowledgeable. She even prepared more paper for all of us since we kept making so many marbling prints and going through the paper. You make so many prints! 100% worthwhile and fun.
  • After Workshop: Color Theory

    Wonderful teacher! Wonderful class!
  • Large Format Marbling (Weekend Intensive)

Natalie Stopka definitely knows the craft of Marbling and relayed her knowledge easily and with clarity. We worked, but the end results of the days activities was well worth the effort Natalie put forward. Thank you Natalie.
  • Large Format Marbling (Weekend Intensive)

    Well run and informative.
  • Super enjoyable and such a great intro to Turkish culture and Ebru marbling. The instructor is passionate about this art and is patient with all of the participants. I highly recommend this course for both adults and children. At the end, it was such a treat to have Turkish tea and drink it while learning about book culture and the Ottoman empire, brought me back to when I visited Istanbul.
  • Loved learning about Ebru. Mustafa is a fine instructor and I hope to attend another session at some point.
  • Very calming and fun. Go with a friend.
  • Extraordinarily beautiful two hour class. Mustafa slowly explained the history and tools used for the “face of water”==Turkish watermarbling as we nine participants were able to snack on great popcorn, tea, and coffee. He demonstrated the possibilities for the colors and designs creating three paintings. We then each were able to do one on our own although he would help with pulling the paper off of the water if one so desired. Definitely, a course I will return to with friends.
  • So fun, some informative! I would take this class over and over. You get at least 10 prints and the instructor pays attention to your techniques and provides great feedback. So fun!
  • Natalie is a wonderful teacher and is fun and funny. I would take any class that she teaches.
  • Great introduction. Small-size class. Earnest, kind, soft-spoken instructor. Turkish tea and cookies served.
  • Instructor was very encouraging and helpful. Would highly recommend this class. The results are amazing even for a novice.
  • I like this class. Learn something new. Had chance to make a beautiful art picture
  • Large Format Marbling (Weekend Intensive)

Natalie ran a great class. Thank you!
  • This class was so much fun while being educational and zen like.
  • I really enjoyed the class, water marbling ebru art is fun and allows you to use your creativity to produce unique and beautiful artwork. Highly recommend the class !
  • My wife and I loved this class! Mustafa was a great host and hands-on teacher who was was happy to answer any questions we had about the style of art (including how to do it on our own at home) - and all over snacks and Turkish tea too. If you are looking for a nonstop class of water marbling, look elsewhere, as the class is limited to one pan and one print per student, but if you want a fun, warm introduction to Ebru, look no further.
  • Mustafa is very knowledgeable about ebru. He gave us a little history of the art. Next he demonstrated several techniques. Then the fun part. We each made our own marble paper. There were a dozen students in the class. Everyone had a different way of adding and stirring the paint, yet each paper came out wonderful. I would highly recommend the class.
  • This course was really fun! There was a quick history section and demo in the beginning, and the rest of the class we had the freedom to make as many marbled papers as we desired. They also offered to mail everyone's works to their homes so that everything could dry overnight in the studio. Would definitely take this class again!
  • Large Format Suminagashi

It was great! I learned a lot. Love that history was incorporated into the class.
  • Everyone in the class was totally absorbed in making prints. Everyone got to make as many prints as they could in 3 hours. The instructor was very well prepared with supplies. Really a fun evening. It was the second workshop I've taken from this instructor.
  • Excellent class, knowledgeable teacher, thorough handout- and I feel I really got the value by getting to make so many pieces. I'm 100% taking another class with Textile Arts Center.
  • Extraordinarily open and generous women lead a very thorough course! Loved it and will be visiting their spot again soon!
  • Marbling

Extraordinarily open and generous women lead a very thorough course! Loved it and will be visiting their spot again soon!
  • Great class. Very fun, creative and informative. Bonus: tea and snacks
  • Perfect mix of history, demonstration, and actively marbling the paper ourselves. During down time while papers were drying, we were served tea and got to chat with classmates and the teacher. Nice time. Interested in a next class!
