  • Accelerated Introduction to Drawing

Decorus Atelier and James, the founder and lead instructor, were fantastic. I’m just beginning my creative journey and have very little experience, but this introductory course was practical, filled with interesting tidbits, and accessible enough for me to learn real techniques. The class size was intimate and moved at my own pace which worked really well for the way my brain processes information. I felt comfortable and welcomed by everyone else. Highly recommend!

This class was a wonderful surprise for my mom and I. James and Diane were very kind and gave us individualized attention and feedback. The studio itself provided a great ambiance with background music to keep to focused and relaxed. We really felt immersed in the moment. We learned a lot about the basics of drawing and how to use the different sketching tools. My mom and I were both pretty impressed with our sketches and they would not have come along so nicely without the guidance provided by James. We strongly recommend taking courses at The Decorus Atelier of Figurative Art and hope to come back soon!

This was an eye-opening experience. James, the instructor, is an incredible teacher with a breadth of artistic knowledge. He legitimately understands art and is a very effective teacher. You'll take classes in a real studio, a no-nonsense, all-business creating environment, not a YouTube influencer's manicured stage. I left the session motivated to continue my art pursuit and purchased more supplies to make it possible. This brief course was an incredible value for the money and I recommend it highly.

  • Accelerated Introduction to Drawing

James was a caring, dedicated, and passionate teacher. I have taken many drawing classes over the years and this was one of the best, and I've learned new skills as well! I highly recommend this class to anyone he wants to be taught by a wonderful teacher, and enhance their skills.

The instructor was truly so helpful and took time to really cater the experience to exactly what I needed in my level of drawing. It definitely is an intro class and an introduction to the studio so do keep that in mind as a good chunk of the first hour was walking through the studio and talking about what services were offered etc. The instructor did gladly let me stay past the time to help me individually with my drawing which I so appreciated and everyone there was so helpful. I would definitely recommend if someone is considering full time classes at the studio for an introduction class.
