Study the human figure through drawing from sculpture at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in an artist-led lesson with professional artist Elena Chesnykh.
This is a private or semi-private 3-hour drawing class with a maximum of three students, allowing for personalized guidance and focused instruction. During the session, students draw from classical and modern sculptures, statues, and busts while studying the structure, proportions, and anatomy of the human figure. Students may choose between two approaches depending on their goals and experience level. You can create several quick sketches of different sculptures or details, each lasting about 20–30 minutes, helping develop observation and gesture drawing skills. Alternatively, you may focus on one longer, more detailed drawing, carefully studying anatomy, proportions, and the creation of three-dimensional form using light and shadow.
Classes take place during quieter hours in the museum, allowing students to concentrate and work comfortably. Students and instructor Elena Chesnykh will meet at the museum entrance or inside the lobby before the lesson. The exact meeting details will be confirmed after booking. All drawing materials — paper, pencils, and drawing boards — are provided by the instructor and included in the class price. Museum admission is also included.
