Weeknight Figure Drawing

This uninstructed life drawing session begins with shorter warm-up poses to prepare the model and artists. During each session, the longest single poses will run for 20 minutes, followed by a refreshing 5-minute break after each extended modeling segment. Throughout the drawing session, you will have access to complimentary cookies and fresh drinking water. We provide background music to establish an inspiring artistic atmosphere while you work on your drawings.

What You'll Learn:

• This is an uninstructed session where learning happens through observation and independent practice
• Techniques for sketching and drawing live human models using fundamental drawing methodologies and approaches
• Professional approaches to working with both quick-fire short poses and extended longer poses in order to effectively capture the human form and anatomy
• Strategies for sharpening your focus and maximizing your drawing productivity during rapid-fire, timed pose sessions

Supplies and Materials:

• All supplies and drawing materials are your responsibility; please bring all your own art supplies that you prefer to work with
• Recommended basic drawing supplies for this course include:
• Strathmore medium-weight drawing spiral pad (11" by 14" size)
• Tombow 61001 MONO professional drawing pencil set
• Pentel hi-polymer eraser designed for lead pencils

Additional Notes:

• Please note that for health and safety reasons, we cannot allow dry pastels, open ink containers, or any paints except watercolor in our studio spaces
• Our studio doors open 15 minutes before the official session start time. Please plan your arrival accordingly, as there is extremely limited indoor waiting space before the doors unlock. The doorman on duty will direct you to the appropriate classroom location
• Be aware that this drawing session takes place on the third floor of a building without elevator access. Latecomers will be seated at the discretion of the session monitor if space and the model's schedule permit
• Photography and flash photography are strictly not permitted when the live model is actively posing to protect the model's privacy and maintain session focus
• We kindly request that if you need to reschedule your session ticket, please provide at least 48 hours' advance notice prior to your scheduled class time
