Class Description

Description

Enter the world of traditional blacksmithing by learning fundamental techniques while creating practical items such as coat hooks, s-hooks, and hand-forged nails. This beginner-level course covers every step of the metalworking process, from heating steel to swinging hammer techniques and shaping your finished metal pieces. This introductory workshop is ideal for those new to blacksmithing who wish to develop foundational skills.

Key Requirements and Guidelines:

  • You are required to print and personally sign this waiver form before attending, with one form needed per participant.

What to Prepare and Wear:

  • Clothing must be made exclusively from natural fibers; synthetic materials and blends are prohibited. Denim jeans and leather shoes are mandatory. We recommend bringing both a short-sleeved and long-sleeved shirt. Ensure that your pant legs fully cover the tops of your shoes, and inspect your clothing for any holes or damage.
  • Wear only clothing items you are willing to sacrifice, as they may sustain permanent damage or staining during the forging process. Failure to follow these requirements will result in not being permitted to participate in forging activities.
  • If you possess your own respirator, bring it to class; otherwise, one will be provided for you to transport to and from each session.
  • When transporting knives or metal pieces, use a proper knife roll, knife case, or wrap items securely in a towel, then secure your transport container with a small luggage lock.

Refund Policy

Please be advised that at the time being all classes are non-refundable.

  • 3 business days notice of class absence is required. A $75 fee is applied per each day missed.
  • Each student is allotted one free rescheduled dates per Small, Medium, Large, or Sword project.

Lots of fun. Instructor was very informative and ever present but let us get a lot of hands on time with forging. Highly recommend this class for anyone who’s been curious about forging/blacksmithing.
