The “magical” Governors Island - a 10-min. $1.50 ferry ride from Lower Manhattan - houses galleries in the summer in converted homes. You'll visit 7 galleries showing contemporary painting, sculpture, video, and photography. Our director, with a Ph.D. in arts education, visits all current exhibits and selects the 7 most extraordinary for you to see. At each stop there will be an explanation of the artwork and then lively discussion.
Take the 1-, R-, or W-train to South Ferry/ Whitehall St. Stations, then go to the left of the Staten Island Ferry to board the Governors Island Ferry. Arrive no later than 1:10 PM to board the ferry that leaves at 1:20 PM sharp.
All sales are final, and the tour takes place no matter the temperature or weather, as the art is all indoors.
