Class Description

Description

Add a touch of handmade art to your new favorite tote bag using some ink and carving blocks!

In this workshop, we'll work on the basic skills of block printing so that you can learn to print your own unique designs. You will learn:

  • The unique interplay between positive and negative space designs
  • How to transfer a design to a carving block
  • How to carve using different blades safely
  • How to finalize your block and ready the ink
  • How to apply the design to a tote bag using a brayer and textile ink

Students will be provided with pre-designed templates that will help with learning the above foundational skills. Once learned, students can then apply it to the templates they need to plan out and scale the design they imagine for their tote bag. All materials are provided during the workshop.

  • This is a beginner-friendly workshop, no prior experience required
  • All materials are included in the registration fee. No need to bring anything!

Refund Policy

We do not issue refunds on workshop registrations.

  • If you register for a workshop and later become unable to attend, we will gladly offer a credit if you notify us at least 5 business days before the workshop.
  • Workshop credits are not redeemable for cash and cannot be applied to merchandise purchases
  • We are unable to offer credits of any kind, or honor reschedule requests, with less than 5 business days advance notice.
  • Credits cannot be given for any registrations for workshops hosted by visiting/ out of town instructors. Due to the nature of these one-time-only workshops, all events hosted by special guests are subject to this policy. Thank you for understanding!
  • In the event a class is cancelled or rescheduled due to inclement weather, or other Act of God, you will receive a credit to take another class at a later date (in-person or virtual).

Our workshops require a great deal of pre-planning, including ordering supplies and tools, booking staff, and making commitments to pay our instructors -- all based on the number of students who register. When students ask to cancel or reschedule at the last minute, we lose money. As a small business, we are unable to absorb these costs and still keep our class prices low.

In fairness to all of our customers, we are unable to make exceptions to our policy, including for reasons of illness or travel. If you are unable to attend a workshop at the last minute, we suggest giving your spot to a friend!

Refund Processing Fees:

  • The following only applies in the event a provider’s cancellation/refund policy allows for cancellations and a full refund, please see above or contact CourseHorse to determine eligibility.
  • In the event a class is still going to occur and a full refund is requested, and you are eligible for a full refund in accordance with the provider’s policy, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from your refund amount.
