Class Description

Description

In 3 hours, students will learn how to transfer non-archival images (including xeroxes of drawings, text, or magazine cut outs) into professional, lasting pieces of artwork.

Are you an artist without access to a press or a large studio space?  Are you a painter looking to incorporate prints into your work? Maybe you’re just curious about doing printmaking at home? This hands-on workshop will introduce several printmaking tools & techniques that you can use as easily in your apartment as you can in the studio.

This particular class will focus on Xerox Gum and Acrylic Transfers. Students will be able to experiment with their technique to produce bold, graphic impressions, as well as delicate, translucent results on paper, fabric, wood, and a variety of diverse materials. Previous knowledge of printmaking is not required! Students with all levels of experience are welcome! Join us!

Important Things to Note:
  • If you have images that you would like to experiment with during class, we encourage you to bring them! You may bring B&W photocopies in addition to laser prints or magazine/newspaper cutouts. Believe it or not, photocopies from old Xerox machines work best! If you plan on transferring text, you will need a reverse copy of your image.
  • Cost of the class includes a $10 materials fee.
Q&A

Q: What is the minimum age requirement for kids to attend?
A: All ages are welcome.

  • DIY Printmaking: An Introduction

Caroline was an excellent instructor, and we learned amazingly easy printmaking techniques in just 3 hours! Would have loved more time to learn more/move to the next level, but I left with the skills to get printing on my own.
