Class Description

Description

This comprehensive course teaches you how to create a realistic human head from initial concept to finished sculpture, exploring the detailed anatomy of facial features, proper proportions, individual facial characteristics, and the expression of emotion. You will master the fundamental principles of constructing armatures and the techniques required for effectively shaping and refining clay. All sculptural work will be conducted from a live human model to ensure accuracy and authentic representation.

All levels of experience and skill are welcome to enroll in this course. Beginners and experienced sculptors alike will find appropriate challenges and individual support. A registration fee is included in the course cost.

  • Sculpture Clay Tools: see example here
  • Modeling Clay: 25-pound supply of Brown and White Clay. Alternatively, you may prefer to purchase Sulfur-free plasteline or professional sculpting wax instead; see example here
