Class Description

Description

Is there a hole in your favorite sweater, hand-knitted garment, or other cherished clothing item? You can restore it beautifully! Join us to learn elegant, visible mending techniques using a practical and effective tool: the Katrinkles Darning Loom.

This class will cover the following key topics:

  • How to properly set up and prepare your darning loom
  • Types of fabric, thread, needles, and other tools required for successful mending
  • Techniques for warping the loom and beginning the weaving process
  • Methods to create beautiful, visible woven patterns that give your textiles new life and character

Students may bring in their own clothing items to mend or choose to practice techniques on fabric scraps provided in class. Darning is traditionally used for knit materials, but it works wonderfully for any clothing items with holes.

Please note that the darning loom can effectively patch holes up to 2.5 inches in size.

Materials:

  • Students are required to bring or purchase a small Katrinkles Darning Loom. A coupon code for 10% off your purchase will be emailed within 24 hours of registration. Feel free to order online for pickup on class day, or visit our shop in person. The 10% discount will be honored at the time of class.
  • All other materials are included in your registration fee, including specialty wool and cotton darning thread, knit fabric swatches, and additional supplies.

Refund Policy

We do not issue refunds on workshop registrations.

  • If you register for a workshop and later become unable to attend, we will gladly offer a credit if you notify us at least 5 business days before the workshop.
  • Workshop credits are not redeemable for cash and cannot be applied to merchandise purchases
  • We are unable to offer credits of any kind, or honor reschedule requests, with less than 5 business days advance notice.
  • Credits cannot be given for any registrations for workshops hosted by visiting/ out of town instructors. Due to the nature of these one-time-only workshops, all events hosted by special guests are subject to this policy. Thank you for understanding!
  • In the event a class is cancelled or rescheduled due to inclement weather, or other Act of God, you will receive a credit to take another class at a later date (in-person or virtual).

Our workshops require a great deal of pre-planning, including ordering supplies and tools, booking staff, and making commitments to pay our instructors -- all based on the number of students who register. When students ask to cancel or reschedule at the last minute, we lose money. As a small business, we are unable to absorb these costs and still keep our class prices low.

In fairness to all of our customers, we are unable to make exceptions to our policy, including for reasons of illness or travel. If you are unable to attend a workshop at the last minute, we suggest giving your spot to a friend!

Refund Processing Fees:

  • The following only applies in the event a provider’s cancellation/refund policy allows for cancellations and a full refund, please see above or contact CourseHorse to determine eligibility.
  • In the event a class is still going to occur and a full refund is requested, and you are eligible for a full refund in accordance with the provider’s policy, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from your refund amount.
