In this fun 3-hour hands-on sculpture and design workshop, you will be given a series of timed creative design challenges, in which you will create original small-scale furniture models. You can select and build from batches of thousands of small hardwood parts of different sizes, shapes, and proportions (provided, prepared prior to the workshop), allowing endless opportunity for unique designs. The classroom will be transformed into an environment much like a professional design studio, encouraging complex artistic engineering and design decisions involving material, color, texture, composition, proportion, scale, aesthetic, and form choices. Students will develop creative and technical problem solving skills, and gain from working collaboratively in pairs and groups. This workshop aims to improve upon your design strategies and processes and get you thinking creatively about furniture.
