Graffiti Summer Camp is an energetic, arts-centered way to spend the summer, taught by working Brooklyn artists who bring authentic street art culture into the studio. Give your child the gift of creative expression this summer as they explore the tips and techniques of aerosol art, from fill-ins and throw-ups to full-scale masterpieces, while developing a genuine understanding of graffiti as an art form with a rich history and global reach.
Program Format: A typical morning begins with a street art tour through one of New York City's most distinctive neighborhoods, taking in what is actually happening in the contemporary street art scene. After the tour, campers gather in the studio for a graffiti drawing session focused on sketching, lettering, and design development. Students bring their own lunch for the midday break. Afternoons feature guest workshops from local artists in areas such as calligraphy and film, followed by dedicated hands-on time with aerosol painting. At the end of the week, campers take home all of their completed work as lasting creative keepsakes.
Schedule: This hands-on camp runs in one-week sessions, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Location: All sessions take place in and around our studio in the heart of Bushwick, Brooklyn, located at 282 Meserole Street. The studio is within walking distance of the Montrose L Train stop. This space is designed to inspire creative thought and provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for students of all ages and experience levels.
What Is Included: Paint, canvas, gloves, studio time, and instruction from a professional NYC graffiti artist are all provided.
What to Bring: Students should bring their own lunch, as none is provided. Wear casual, paint-appropriate clothes you do not mind getting marked up. Paint does come off most materials, but relaxed clothing makes for a more comfortable experience.
Age: 9 and up.
