In this engaging sewing and fashion design class, children explore their creativity while learning fundamental sewing techniques and fashion design concepts. Through hands-on projects, students work with fabrics, colors, and textures, developing fine motor skills and artistic expression at their own pace.
Younger children (ages 3-6) start with accessible projects such as decorating paper dolls with fabric clothing and making garments for dolls and teddy bears with teacher support. Older students (ages 7-11) progress to learning basic stitches, creating accessories and toys, and designing wearable items, including skirts and tops. As students advance through the six-week curriculum, they build confidence, discover their unique style, and gain pride in their custom creations.
Location: 60 Broadway, corner of Broadway and Wythe, in the Gretsch Building
