The Jalopy Jr. Folk Intermediate Camp is designed for slightly older children, with enrollment open to campers ages 8 to 13. Students will explore singing, guitar, banjo, fiddle, ukulele, and traditional folk dances and games, with the chance to develop their skills in a focused, enthusiastic environment. At Jalopy, we pride ourselves on flexibility: our experienced staff can find a meaningful place for any student, no matter how much or how little prior musical experience they bring.
Every day at the Jalopy Jr. Folk Summer Camp is packed with singing, dancing, small group instrument lessons, full ensemble playing, and visits from special guest musicians who bring the living tradition of folk music right into the room.
Our mission is to make music education genuinely approachable, joyful, and accessible to every student regardless of background or prior experience. Our song-based teaching philosophy means students are playing real music from their very first session, and by the end of the week, they will perform those songs for friends and family. This program is an outstanding choice for any child who has a love of music and a desire to learn.
Not sure which level is right for your family? We are happy to help you decide. Rental instruments are available for students who need them.
We believe that music education is as much about developing personal character and social skills as it is about technique. Our team of skilled musicians and educators creates an environment that is genuinely responsive to each child's individual needs while remaining warm, inclusive, and supportive for everyone. Come join us for a week of music, creative expression, and connection.
Please plan on packing a daily snack and lunch for your camper.
