Italian Intermediate 4

This eight-week intermediate Spanish course focuses on developing conversational fluency in more complex topics and grammatical structures appropriate for intermediate learners. Participants will deepen their understanding of the grammatical distinction between the imperfect and present perfect tenses, which are essential for narrating and discussing past events with appropriate temporal context and nuance. The course also provides extensive expansion of imperative forms and commands, including both affirmative and negative command structures used in practical, real-world conversational settings and contexts.

Throughout the program, students will engage with authentic Spanish language materials and participate in guided conversations on topics of increasing complexity. The instruction emphasizes practical application of grammar rules alongside communicative competence, allowing students to develop confidence in understanding and producing more sophisticated Spanish discourse. Special attention is given to the distinction between formal and informal registers, which becomes increasingly important at the intermediate level.

Course Prerequisites and Requirements: Students must demonstrate foundational conversational ability prior to enrollment, specifically the ability to engage in discussion using present and past tenses as well as basic imperative command forms. This prior knowledge ensures that students can fully benefit from the intermediate-level instruction and participate actively in course discussions, exercises, and collaborative speaking activities.
