Description

Discover the fundamentals of Flamenco dance under the expert instruction of Aurora Reyes, a highly respected and esteemed artist recognized in both the flamenco communities of Spain and the vibrant flamenco scene of New York.

Master the essential techniques and secrets behind sevillanas, tangos, and bulerías, three fundamental flamenco styles.

Sevillanas introduces essential Spanish dance positions, pasos, and distinctive body movements performed with or without a partner. Tangos and bulerías are traditionally rooted in fiesta forms where dancers showcase their air and interact within a flamenco jam context. These styles utilize rhythmic cycles of 6-beats, 8-beats, and 12-beats. Rather than focusing excessively on the technical trickiness of footwork rhythms, the emphasis is on developing a genuine feel and understanding of the music.

Please note: A dance partner is not required for participation in this class.

You are welcome to join the classes at any point in the session.
