Love what you create onstage, and you'll naturally experience fun and uninhibited improvisation.
This course is designed to reconnect you with your passion for improv, helping you break through whatever barriers may be limiting your performance, and quieting the self-doubting inner voice. You'll examine how performers sometimes abandon their choices out of anxiety about right versus wrong decisions, and instead cultivate an attitude of complete commitment and joy, since improv is truly one of the most rewarding art forms when you refuse to overthink it.
The class emphasizes artistic freedom through proven techniques for initiating scenes from authentic emotional perspectives, making specific and surprising choices, providing strong support to your scene partners, and confidently employing the vocabulary and concepts of long-form improvisation. Classes move at a brisk pace, keep you actively working, and provide personal feedback to accelerate your growth.
This course culminates in a public performance.
Prerequisite: Completion of BCC Improv Level 1, or successful completion of at least one full-length course at a major comedy theater such as UCB, PIT, Magnet, Squirrel, Second City, iO, or Annoyance, or equivalent prior training experience.
