Each lesson consists of a focused 45-minute instructional session designed to maximize learning and skill development.
For Beginner Students:
You will immediately begin hands-on drumming from your first lesson. The course introduces the standard five-piece drum set, including the proper names and functions of each component. Throughout your lessons, you will explore fundamental drumming techniques, learn to read drum notation, master essential rudiments, develop rhythmic counting skills, and practice backbeats and fills. The instructor emphasizes daily practice through provided exercises and homework assignments tailored to your musical interests. This approach, rooted in the philosophy that consistent daily practice combined with personally meaningful music selections produces the strongest musical development, ensures accelerated improvement.
For Intermediate Students:
Students progress toward greater independence and expanded rhythmic vocabulary. Coursework focuses on advancing music reading abilities, playing along with pre-recorded tracks, experimenting with diverse grooves and musical styles, and refining timing precision and feel. Students develop the foundational skills necessary for more advanced ensemble work.
For Advanced Students:
Advanced coursework addresses sophisticated drumming concepts, including odd time signatures, rhythmic displacement, metric modulation, polyrhythmic patterns, solo improvisation, advanced sight reading, and subdivision techniques. This level prepares students for professional-level performance and composition.
