Certificate in Applied Color for Design combines three comprehensive online workshops: The Art of Choosing Paint Color (CE804), Creating a Successful Color Scheme (CE805), and Transform an Existing Space with Color (CE806). These three courses form a unified learning sequence that provides meaningful insight into how professional interior designers employ color theory alongside underlying design principles to develop impactful color schemes. Drawn from the time-tested NYSID curriculum that has educated interior design professionals for decades, courses CE804, CE805, and CE806 build upon established color theory principles while drawing out the inherent sensitivity of the human eye and familiar vocabulary.
This approach enables students to better understand how to leverage color as a powerful and essential tool in interior design practice. Since the workshops address different facets of color theory and application, they can be taken individually or in combination. Each has been designed to serve both professionals and non-professionals seeking to work more effectively with this critical interior design tool. Registering for CE807 offers the complete three-course series at a discounted combined rate and includes a Certificate of Completion from the New York School of Interior Design.
Students should have the following materials available for the first class: Winsor and Newton Designers Gouaches in Permanent White (14ml), Permanent Green Middle (14ml), and Burnt Sienna (14ml), plus a number 10 paint brush.
