Great class, taught by Glen, an extremely knowledgeable woodworker! We were able to learn to use a lathe, shape a bowl from a block of wood, and finish it all in 3 hours. I definitely recommend this class to anyone who is interested in the art of wood turning.

Baran was such a great teacher. He made sure that we understood the purpose of each tool and taught us the correct technique to use them. The class was super fun and a great learning experience. And my beverage caddy is so cute!! Would recommend this class 100%!

I had a really wonderful class at Glen's studio a couple of weeks ago. I'm still blown away by the bowl I made! Glen has a well-stocked, clean, and bright workshop that has two lathes, so the class will always be small. You get a lot of personal attention/instruction and he covered a ton of info, from which turning tools to use for each step, how fix gouges, how to apply your finish of choice such that it really, really gets into the piece, etc. He also answered all of my questions, from choosing wood, the differences between turning green vs kiln-dried, how the difference sizes of lathes can be best utilized and more. I've taken one turning class before from someone else, and Glen's class was much more informative and personal. Five stars, across the board.
  • Introduction to Furniture Making

    Steven M. • March 2, 2025
I enjoyed the class and the instructor. The project was a bit rushed, and could have used at least one more day, as our 2nd day ran several hours overtime. I would have rather had a more organized introduction where instead of jumping into the first step of the project, the instructor gave an overview of the process first. Also, I would say that an Introduction to Furniture Making should spend some time on finishing techniques, instead of just ending with an unfinished project. I think that the DIY joint is a great facility, and I would do a course there again.
  • Charcuterie Board

I had a great experience in this course. If it were a little closer to where I lived, I would sign up for more classes with this instructor. The class was hands on, easy to understand and very interactive. I cannot wait for my next class.

Great class! Priscila, the instructor, was super clear and patient. I went alone but I never felt alone. I’d recommend for anyone wanting to use power tools with a professional nearby. It was my first time using a miter saw and table saw and it was exhilarating! Would take again.

Glenn was fantastic. He was patient, but most of all, superbly knowledgeable. He taught us more than just the basics. We used a wide variety of gouges, chisels and scrapers. My bowl came out beautiful!

This class was great. I have absolutely no training and no experience working with my hands. Glen was patient, skilled and the perfect person to teach someone like me.
