Class Description

Description

Etching, a 16th-century printmaking technique, involves incising an image onto a metal plate, which is then treated with acid, cleaned, inked, and printed onto paper via a press to create a detailed print.

This workshop will focus on this early printmaking technique and will use traditional materials to prepare and print the plates. Participants will create their own copper plates and will be able to print in both color and black inks.

The workshop is limited to four participants. All materials provided. Maximum plate size is 9 x 12 inches. This class uses materials and chemicals that are potentially harmful. We take precautions to protect our bodies while using chemicals and aim to use the minimum required to get the job done.

Refund Policy
