Description

Begin your pizza journey at the pizzeria with the longest documented history in the United States, then continue tasting pizza styles that trace the evolutionary path of American pizza through the 20th century.

What's Included:

Every tour features a full slice at each pizzeria stop, behind-the-scenes kitchen tours, detailed pizza analysis, and a take-home Pocket Pizza Journal so you can continue tracking your tastings.

Weather and Attire:

All tours operate rain or shine. Itineraries may be adjusted in the event of severe weather, but every tour will be completed in full. Please wear comfortable shoes and dress for the conditions, as most of the tour takes place outdoors.

What To Bring?

  • We strongly recommend carrying a refillable water container. We discourage single-use bottled water, as New York City's tap water is among the cleanest and best-tasting in the country.
  • You will also want to bring a camera, your sense of adventure, and a big appetite.
  • Please also bring a face mask, as your guide may request that you wear it while touring pizzeria kitchens.

Accessibility:

  • This tour is wheelchair accessible.
  • Restrooms are available to guests at most pizzerias along the route.
  • Most walking tours are wheelchair accessible. The only walking tours that are not yet fully accessible are the West Village and Downtown Brooklyn tours, which have steps at the entrance of the first pizzerias.

Refund Policy

Non-refundable, Cannot be rescheduled:

  • Once purchased, tickets cannot be refunded and cannot be rescheduled because your space is being guaranteed at the event.

Activity takes place rain or shine:

  • The activity runs regardless of weather conditions. In the rare situation where the seller is forced to cancel the event, ticket-holders will be allowed to reschedule to another time (subject to availability).

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.

  • Greenwich Village Pizza Walk

Not only was the pizza great, but I learned much more about the evolution of New York-style pizza than I'd expected to. The choice of three restaurants took the New York pizza story from its Neapolitan roots, through old-school New York style, to the familiar modern pizza-by-the-slice storefront style, with a wealth of information about the types of ovens and ingredients used for the different styles. We also took a brief side trip past Café Wha? where Bob Dylan got his professional start, and the Comedy Cellar, perhaps the world's premier stand-up club.
