Build upon the foundational skills from Level 1 by learning how to write and develop a sketch revue as an ensemble under the direction of a professional instructor. This process-driven course emphasizes learning through active creation, with participants developing and refining material from day one into a fully realized thematic sketch show by course end.
You will create game and character-based comedy through improvisation, pitching, writing, rewriting, and the integration of technical, musical, and digital elements. Throughout the course, you will strengthen your performance technique while highlighting each performer's unique voice and individual role within the ensemble.
This course requires consistent attendance, punctuality for all classes, and completion of assigned homework in preparation for a professional sketch show revue. The final show will feature two public performances.
Prerequisite: Completion of BCC Level 1 Sketch or equivalent training. Students who have completed at least one full-length sketch course at a major comedy theater such as UCB, PIT, Magnet, Squirrel, Second City, iO, Annoyance, or similar organizations may begin at this level.
Please Note: Classes may conclude up to 30 minutes earlier than scheduled, depending on enrollment numbers.
