Develop a solid command of charcoal drawing through hands-on exploration of core techniques including shading, blending, and subtractive methods. Students work on toned or mixed media paper to build depth, texture, and contrast, drawing from provided subjects or their own. Skills grow progressively through guided instruction and structured class critiques that sharpen artistic expression.

In this class, you will practice fundamental drawing skills.
Artuta’s salon-style drawing classes are like Bob Ross for the modern age! Each week our rotation of instructors will give a surprise prompt over Zoom followed by approximately 30 minutes of free drawing time. Students ages 4 - 12 (parents included!) are welcome to follow along as our instructors create and share their thoughts on their drawing process. Our students are always encouraged to create what they like as well. Towards the end of each class, the students’ artwork will be displayed and instructors will share what they feel to be the highlight of each piece.
We encourage each student to join in as often as they can, as understanding and building personal visual language takes time and experience. Over time, you and your student will experience and see their artistic growth. Our Drawing Salon is about providing a space to inspire creative flow.
Make your happy little trees ‘go beyond’ Artuta-style!
