During this class we will explore non-traditional and traditional techniques of hollow and solid sculpting, including component construction, bit work, stringer drawing, frit and color application.
Borosilicate glassblowing is an incredibly versatile and accesible medium. With a focus on easy application of complicated techniques, students will learn about the endless possibilities of flameworking.
Discussions on how to set up an efficient and cost effective flameworking studio will also be a part of the course so students can practice what they have learnt after the class. Assignments will help students to explore their own interests and ideas and will help with problem solving projects in the future.
Students must bring with them an open mind, feverish enthusiasm, generous nature, Dramamine, and a will to throw everything they thought about flameworking out the window.
