Class Description

Description

Learn how to draft sewing patterns with flat pattern-making techniques.

This course will give students all the basic skills they need to learn how to read and understand patterns and how to create their own pant or skirt pattern, using their own measurements to create a custom fit. Students will also learn about how to do simple alterations and changes to this basic pattern, aka, the sloper (the fashion term for basic pattern block).

This is a great class for those with no skills in pattern making and for those who can sew and might have made clothes but with no technical training. This four week course gives students more than a foundation, it gives fashion construction and pattern-making understanding that students will be able to use once they have completed the course.

Skills & techniques:
  • Learn to measure your body accurately
  • Learn to draft a personal slopers (block patterns) for bodice, skirt, sleeves, etc
  • Learn to make pattern adjustments and alterations
