Adventures in Dating

Women and non-binary folks only. Dating can be an awful, awful mess of a vulnerable time. We rarely think about practicing – we get in the moment, we get nervous and we end up not being our best selves, and then we deem ourselves “bad daters” and the vicious cycle continues until you give up or meet someone, and you don’t have to date anymore. What if you got to practice those first date (and second, and third) conversations with a group...

Improv For Essential Workplace Conversations: How To Give Feedback, Pushback and Follow-Up This is a COED class Essential workplace conversations are uncomfortable. The thought of bringing up anything less than exciting news to a colleague sends our minds racing into a “what-if” of worse case scenarios. We’re anxious simply thinking about it…. “What are they going to think of me? How can I be candid without seeming aggressive? What...

As women, we tend to find ourselves overthinking and trapped in our heads, focusing in on how we ‘should’ sound, what a strong communicator looks like, what answer would be perceived as the best one. And the best one often is, be you. In this class, we’ll take improv-based and...
Women Rising: Leading From Where You Are
The Engaging Educator See all classes by this school @ Online Classroom via Zoom, New York, NY
One of the top reasons our female clients take our improv class is to develop leadership skills. Unfortunately, a lot of them think they have to pretend to be someone they aren’t, and develop qualities that aren’t innately part of who they are. The reality is, most of us have those coveted leadership skills already, it’s simply a matter of honing our style, reading a situation, and knowing when to bring out active listening (always) and when...

Storytelling has been a buzzword in business, sales and marketing for a few years – what makes a story a good story though? Public speaking is feared more than death. We spend so much time preparing WHAT we are going to say that we fail to focus on the HOW. What does it take to make wooing a crowd look easy? And even if you don’t fear public speaking – are you good at it, or have you had an audience...

Expressing yourself, your wants, and your emotions with regard to others. Saying no. Setting boundaries. Giving someone feedback. Checking in and regulating yourself and your emotions. Assertive communication is the most desired communication style: how do you build this when you find yourself playing small in relationships, career, and personal matters? Maybe you realize that you’ve been more passive than you like, and you’d like to make an...

Improv + Communication Skills for Women
The instructor and the other class attendants were very warm and friendly. The instructor provided great exercises throughout the evening that helped us become aware of word fillers and other habits we have in communicating that should be avoided. I liked how we were all engaged with each other and used the examples she provided to challenge ourselves to listen to other, think on our feet and learn different ways to communicate according to the situation we’re in. -
