Class Description

Description

Discover the authentic flavors of Tokyo street food as we create this celebrated dish, Japanese ramen, from scratch. This hands-on course is perfect for anyone who enjoys Asian cuisine and wants to master the techniques and flavor profiles that make ramen a beloved culinary tradition you can recreate in your own kitchen.

In this engaging, interactive class, you will be guided through each step of creating authentic ramen. You will learn foundational knife skills to properly prepare fresh ingredients, then master the technique of balancing flavors to develop a rich and flavorful broth. You will also prepare and cook various vegetables to complement your broth. The course offers two ramen varieties to choose from: you may create a Tori-Kara Black Ramen featuring chicken broth, breaded and fried chicken, and fresh vegetables, or select Veggie Ramen made with vegetable broth and stir-fried vegetables.

A highlight of this class is making ramen noodles completely from scratch, combining pasta-making skills with Japanese technique and tradition. You will cook your freshly made noodles and add your prepared components, then customize your individual bowl with a selection of traditional garnishes and toppings. The experience culminates in enjoying your handmade creation alongside fellow food enthusiasts.

No prior cooking experience is required.

We provide all equipment and ingredients needed for the class, which are readily available at local markets if you wish to prepare this dish at home later. Our classes maintain a casual, enjoyable atmosphere focused on learning through demonstration and hands-on instruction rather than intense technical training. Whether you are an experienced home cook seeking new skills or a complete beginner, the class accommodates all comfort levels, with options to participate actively or observe and assist as you prefer.

  • Japanese Ramen

The Chef Instructor is great! I was actually a half-hour late because I mixed up the time but he accomodated me and we cooked an amazing ramen!! I think there are too many ingredients required so I won't be cooking it myself but that's on me...

Preparing and cooking the ingredients was fun (including kneading the dough--that one was super fun) and streamlined. And there was good food afterwards, of course!

We had an absolutely amazing time in the ramen making class. Everything was explained in a way that will make it easy for me to repeat this recipe at home. I look forward to experimenting with my new ramen making skills. Thank you Cynthia!

Didn’t really learn anything. We made pasta from scratch but everything else was pre made and it felt more like assembly than preparation/cooking. Also very difficult to see instructor - overall class felt unorganized and it only lasted about 30-45 minutes. Remainder of time was spent eating and mingling. Additionally they provided one bowl and one set of noodles per pair so it felt more conducive for dates.

This class was a disappointment, the "room" was uncomfortable, the tables were small, no space to move around! We learned nothing about ramen, we just did the noodles and the rest was just like a buffet. The only thing nice about the class was the couple sitting next to us, the rest It would have been better just to go out to have ramen at a restaurant in the city.

We had a very good experience, everyone was so nice and friendly, the staff was helpful and made the experience a good one. The class was also informative. I am looking forward to making my own ramen at home.
