Class Description

Description

Guests will enjoy small plates dishes and specialty teas and juices that compliment the art exhibition TRACES in Nolan Park on Governors Island. Led by WESLEY BEEKS, guests will learn about the spices from South Asia, engage in a lively conversation with the chef and engage the site-specific installation by Japanese American artist Tomo Mori.

The exhibition TRACES explores human migration to the Americas. As people continued spreading across Eurasia, glacier ice melted and sea levels dropped causing the Bering Straits (which connects Siberia to Alaska) to be seen and then crossed. People blended and inter-married for thousands of years. The Native Americans that we know today came from that dynamic yet, many Americans are not familiar with the historic cultures of these Native people.
