Class Description

Description

If you're curious about pottery making and not sure if you REALLY want to commit to our eight week class, then give this short version a go! It's a chance for complete beginners to try their hand at the potter's wheel, with no experience necessary.

This class is similar to our one day crash-course style class but in this pottery class, you will be meeting for four consecutive weeks and get to throw pots for two sessions and finish/customize and color your own works of art.

During the first class, you will learn wheel throwing basics of how to make simple forms on the pottery wheel. Then, your instructor will guide you as you try it yourself. You'll be able to try and try again until you get a piece that you like.

During week two you can put that muscle memory to the test and try to make even more pieces, and perhaps try new shapes and sizes.

In the third session you will have the opportunity to smooth and contour the work you created as well as add handles and carve into them, making these uniquely your own.

On the last class, you will learn glazing which is how you decorate and add color to your pottery by painting on a liquid glass suspension. Various colors and surfaces are possible. We have both dipping as well as painting options.

The works that you create will be ready to be picked up one week after the last class and are held for three weeks.

This class is great for those who want to experience clay and have their hand in every part of the process from start to finish, allowing the student to be exposed to all the stages of firing and finishing.

If you're interested in learning a new and fun hobby, pottery will allow you to dig your hands into clay, unwind, and create unique handmade ceramic goods!

Please note works must be picked up within three weeks from the last class.

Please note: Public dates for this class require at least 2 guests to run. In the unlikely event that we don't reach this number, we'll cancel the class; in this case we'll inform you and allow you to get a refund or reschedule, so please watch your email/SMS one day prior to the class.

Note:

We are excited to share the joy of clay with you! Please note that when you book a class with us, you are paying for the instructional experience, studio time, materials, and the guidance of our instructors, rather than a guaranteed finished product.

Ceramics is an unpredictable art form that goes through many stages—from shaping and drying to complex bisque and glaze firings. While we do our very best to guide your pieces safely through the kiln, ceramics can occasionally crack, warp, or break during the firing process due to natural physical properties.

Complimentary Firing: As a complimentary part of the class experience, we include the firing and glazing for one piece per person (selected by you at the end of the session).

No Guarantees: Because of the inherent risks involved in firing pottery, finished pieces are not guaranteed, and studio fees are non-refundable in the rare event that a piece is damaged during the firing process.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to getting our hands dirty with the creative process together!

Refund Policy

No refunds, but can reschedule if student notifies us more than 24 hours before class.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
