Experience the exhilaration of soaring through the air with confidence and grace! Our Flying Trapeze program allows participants to safely explore this remarkable circus discipline regardless of their current fitness level or athletic background.
New students begin with proper safety gear, including a secure harness, followed by introductory ground instruction conducted by one of our experienced coaching team. After learning essential safety protocols, practicing takeoff movements on solid ground, and observing a demonstration of the foundational knee hang maneuver, you'll ascend the ladder and soon experience the sensation of flight. Throughout your training, you remain connected to safety lines from your first step on the ladder until you safely exit the net and stand securely on the ground.
Your instructors deliver consistent coaching on fundamental trapeze techniques throughout your session. The final half-hour focuses on catching practice, where an instructor suspended from a separate trapeze bar will catch you mid-air! If you're still perfecting your technique, no problem; you may continue practicing your moves without attempting a catch during this segment.
Flying trapeze classes maximize your airtime, with each student getting substantial practice opportunities. Our standard sessions run two hours with a maximum of ten students per group. Shorter express sessions accommodate fewer participants. Introductory sessions may accommodate larger groups. Unless specified otherwise, classes welcome all skill levels, enabling each participant to progress individually and work on appropriate skill development.
Many participants accomplish remarkable feats during their inaugural session. As you return for additional training and build foundational abilities, you'll progress to more complex and challenging maneuvers. Multi-week Intensive Flying Workshops (IFW) offer structured skill development, opportunities to connect with fellow enthusiasts, and even chances to showcase your abilities. All sessions and intensive programs follow our Flying Trapeze Curriculum, which develops safe, capable flyers. Our six-level system encompasses Flying Trapeze, Conditioning, and Trampoline training, building strength, stamina, spatial awareness, and movement control. Participants document their advancement in their TSNY Logbook, and instructors provide encouragement and expert mentorship as you work toward each new achievement.
Appropriate Attire Requirements:
Protective socks covering your toes are mandatory; therefore, toe-separating socks or footwear that slips easily are not permitted. Wear fitted athletic wear for optimal movement. Yoga pants, running tights, or leggings extending below the knee will shield your skin during the knee hang movement. Wear a standard-length shirt or athletic top over your torso, as the harness wraps around your waist; crop tops or shortened shirts interfere with proper equipment fit. Avoid loose or oversized clothing that creates movement restrictions. Secure all hair clips firmly, and remove jewelry before your session.
Flying trapeze represents both athletic challenge and artistic expression, offering participants excitement, community connection, and personal growth opportunities. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable experience in the air!
