This workshop will explore safe & accessible techniques that can be used to develop & maintain your body’s natural elasticity while creating.
In this class, Missy Graff Ballone, author of Wellness for Makers: A Movement Guide for Artists will help students deconstruct their movement patterns to recreate stronger body mechanics in the studio. Missy will demonstrate stretching, strengthening, and massage techniques that students can incorporate into their daily studio routines to help redefine movement in the studio. This workshop will include a mix of lecture including background information, such as how knots develop in the body, and practical instruction, such as different ways to increase blood flow, circulation, and flexibility. These techniques are designed to help boost energy levels, alleviate pain, reduce the risk of injury, and improve posture. Students will leave with a deeper understanding of the body and new ideas about how to develop a studio practice that lasts!
This class will consist of a mix of lecture, accessible movements, and Q&A. The movement sequence is designed specifically for artists and will target the neck, shoulders, hands, wrists, and forearms. We will close the workshop with a book signing (books available in the UrbanGlass store)!
