Cream Puffs, Eclairs and Churros
The Brooklyn Kitchen See all classes by this school @ 100 Frost St, Brooklyn, NY
We love cream puffs, eclairs and churros. Their light and fluffy dough is a great vehicle for a custardy filling, and they beg for a hot cup of coffee. What ties these three delicacies together is their dough, based off of a French dough called "pate choux." Yes this word is a mouth full, but once you master this technique, taught by Megan Fitzroy Phelan (Corporate Pastry Chef for Sullivan Street Bakery and Co Restaurant and chef/owner of Fitzroy...

Doughnuts
The lesson was very informative and it was all worth the money and time invested. What made the entire class entertaining and informative was the assistance of the instructor. It showed that she was very knowledgeable about her craft. I am looking forward to the next lesson at the Brooklyn Kitchen. -
Doughs 101
Really fun and educational couple of hours. Taylor was super approachable and knowledgeable, sharing her love for all things food! The only tears I shed are for the hour long commute from my place in Washington Heights to the kitchen in Williamsburg. But I loved the surprise “dinner party” at the end. -

Fresh Pasta
Instructor Kim, and her amazing team, Jenny and Nubiae, kept the class swift and clear. We learned the basics of pasta-making, and got the aperitif of true New York love and history. New York is fresh Italian pasta. The simple ingredients composed a meal full of generosity and laughter, mixed with fresh pepper, parsley, and heaps of Romano. We were way too happy and too full by the end. But I'd do it til my belt popped. -

Intro to Sourdough
This class is a must if you want to make sourdough bread. Arnie is a gem and very helpful. The Brooklyn Kitchen is a beautiful location. I absolutely loved it. My bread is proofing in the fridge now! However, I feel like an extra 30 minutes would’ve been helpful. -
Knife Skills
Great class for beginners - seriously perfect if you need to learn the basics. I'd recommend adding larger and more diverse quantities to chop, including a segment between veggies, fruits, and meats - which would round out the basics for an average home cook well. -
